U-La-Ni-Gi-Da A-Da-Nv-Do Dance Group was formed during
1993 in response to the
public’s requests . Many schools, groups, and organizations wanted
others to experience Pow-Wow style dancing in a total sensuous experience.
The total experience of watching the dynamic interplay between dancer
and drum is crucial to the overall understanding of that symbiotic relationship.
U-La-Ni-Gi-Da A-Da-Nv-Do was formed to bring First Nation peoples (Native American) and non-First Nation peoples together to share Southern and Southwestern First Nation non-ceremonial dance and music .
It is an important goal of this group to have culturally correct information presented during the informational parts of their demonstrations as well as preserve a comfort-level for non-First Nation peoples in their question and answer periods. Interaction is another extremely valuable teaching tool employed by U-La-Ni-Gi-Da A-Da-Nv-Do. It is highly encouraged during appropriate times in the course of the demonstrations that the audience participate.
The Dance Troupe is an amalgamation of mixed-blood First Nation peoples such as Delaware, Apache, Choctaw, Sac and Fox, Comanche, Taino, and Cherokee Nations as well as non-First Nation individuals who have spent major portions of their lives being instructed by elders from various First Nations as to the correct manner of music, dance and Regalia.
We are a professional Dance Troupe who travel to perform
for audiences in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Tennessee.
